Workshop Proposal -- General Information
Proposals must be submitted by May 15, 2008
Workshops given in a target language are highly encouraged.
Room sizes accommodate from 40-170 people and are set up in theatre style with a front table.
Handouts, while appreciated and valued by participants, need not be extensive. CT COLT recommends that you PLAN TO HAVE EXTRA COPIES AVAILABLE, since between final notification of pre-registered attendance and the actual conference day attendance, numbers will change. Neither CT COLT nor you is required to mail anything after the conference presentation.
CT COLT makes every attempt to distinguish between the workshops given by professional educators, and a more restricted number of workshops sponsored by exhibitors. Please be aware that if selling and/or promoting of materials, merchandise, and/or services is part of a presentation, these activities are restricted by their very nature to the exhibitor workshops and must be so noted in the proposal. Any questions regarding this topic may be addressed to the Conference Workshop Chair, Richard de Meij at 860.922.9238 or by e-mail at rdemeijctcolt@yahoo.com.
When registering for the conference in September, please note that CT COLT is offering to all presenters a reduced registration fee of $50.00, which includes a free dinner and FREE PARKING. You will need to complete the REGULAR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION FORM AND RETURN IT WITH PAYMENT ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30, 2008. On the registration form, you will need to check off that you are a PRESENTER and indicate the workshop number and title of the workshop you are presenting. The registration forms should be mailed to the following address: Paul M. St. Louis, 2008 CT COLT Fall Conference, 275 Cedar Swamp Road, Monson, MA 01057-9303.
CT COLT IS NOT ALLOWED TO PROVIDE CEUs FOR PRESENTING A WORKSHOP. Please be aware that you may be eligible for CEU equivalent credits for presenting through your local school district by contacting the appropriate person and completing your local process. Although presenters cannot receive CEUs from CT COLT for presenting, presenters can earn CEUs by attending a minimum of two other workshops.
In order for CT COLT to provide CEUs to those attending your workshop, CT COLT is required to have the following on file: a CEU Professional Development Activity Sheet and a CURRENT résumé for each presenter and co-presenter.
You will receive written comments about your workshop from the conference evaluation form. This information will be mailed to you after the conference.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT: Overhead Projectors, VCR/DVD equipment will be provided UPON REQUEST ONLY. LCD Projectors will NOT be provided. However, if you wish to bring your own LCD projector, we will provide the "LCD Support Package" UPON REQUEST ONLY. CT COLT will provide NO other AV equipment!
VERY IMPORTANT: It is the presenter's responsibility to contact Greg Semplice, the conference audio-visual coordinator, at gsemplic@sjcadets.org to verify their audio-visual needs as soon as their workshop proposal has been accepted. If presenters do not follow this procedure, we cannot guarantee that the necessary audio-visual equipment will be available on the day of the conference! We cannot honor any last minute requests!!!
