Mission Statement
The Connecticut Council of
Language Teachers (CT COLT) promotes, advocates for
and fosters the teaching and learning of World
Languages and Cultures. We support, guide and
connect educators, students, policy makers and the
public through professional development, scholarship
and collaborative initiatives.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ALL CT COLT
EVENTS (Fall Conference, Poetry Contest, Poster
Contest, Essay Contest, Rhyme Celebration, The Tech Academy, Student
Awards/Excellence, Scholarships, Awards)
Participation in all CT COLT events now requires
membership to CT COLT. Membership is based on a calendar
year. Please join us and take advantage of our new
initiatives, as well as our well
established ones. We look forward to working
with you and hope you will become involved in our many
activities.

Important Poetry
Recitation Contest Changes
-
All
teachers who have students
participating in the Poetry
Recitation Contest MUST be current
members of CT COLT.
-
Students in the following languages
MUST SELECT a poem from the CT COLT
approved slate of poems for the
language and level in which the
student is participating:
Ancient Greek, Chinese, French,
German, Italian, Latin, Polish,
Portuguese, and Spanish.

Students in the following languages
will not select poems from an
approved slate of poems, but the
poems that the students choose
should be level appropriate (not too
difficult, not too easy):
Arabic, ASL, ESL/ELL, Hebrew, Modern
Greek, Japanese, Korean, and
Russian.
